About the Cover
Cover: Terrestrial carbon sequestration is a wide-ranging process that can include crop production fields, grasslands, and forests. Considerable research is being done on the processes, measurement, modeling, and verification of terrestrial carbon sequestration, and the effects of carbon sequestration management practices on greenhouse gas mitigation. This was the subject of the Third USDA Symposium on Greenhouse Gases and Carbon Sequestration in Agriculture and Forestry, held in March 2005. Selected papers presented at this symposium can be found in the special section of this edition, starting on page 1338. Cover design by Jennifer Foltz, graphic designer, Kansas State University.
