Fig. 1. Decreases in the number of cells or colony forming units (CFU) in the control and highest particle treatments during the clay, flocculent, and silt particle experiments. Total (-{diamondsuit}-), viable (-{blacksquare}-), and culturable (-{blacktriangleup}-) Salmonella cells decreased similarly in all control and treatment microcosms. Total bacterial populations (x) persisted at a relatively constant level in all experiments.
